What is a Community Foundation?

A Community Foundation is a locally run, independent, public Foundation that:

 

› Builds and administers endowment and other types of funds to support charitable activities in its area

› Is autonomous and governed by a volunteer board of local leaders

› Exists in every province and one territory; is linked and supported at the national level through Community Foundations of Canada. (CFC)

There are over 191 community foundations in Canada.
