As we welcome in a new year, I am excited to commence my role of Chair of the Board of Directors at the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation. When I first joined the Board over 10 years ago, one of my first actions was to become a member of the Grant Making Committee. It was there that I truly saw the mission of the Foundation come to fruition – to enrich the quality of life in Brampton, Caledon and surrounding communities.
One of the reasons I have remained on the Board for so many years is the quality of the staff, Board members and committee members that make the Foundation the amazing organization that it is today. I have witnessed strong leadership from the Chairs that have held this position before me and would like to thank them for their contributions over the years. Most recently Lori Robinson served as Chair, and I thank her for her guidance for the past 4 years. I am also excited that Jim Firth has agreed to sit as Vice-Chair for the next 2 years and would like to thank him for his contributions as a Board member.
I would also like to thank my fellow Directors, committee members and the staff for their support and expertise. Together, we have built strong relationships in our communities and have been able to assist numerous charities through providing strategic grants to help them accomplish their goals. Of course, I would also like to recognize the overwhelming generosity of our donors – without you our organization would not exist, and our communities have been improved as a result of your philanthropy.
I am excited to serve as Chair and am looking forward to continuing the tradition of working with our local charities and organizations to make our communities great places to live.
Today, Tomorrow, Forever
Chris Markou,
Chair of the Board of Directors, Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation
