$102,000 Granted for Community Programs
As summer is in full swing, I love to see our community come alive with events, celebrations, and a small international soccer tournament.
At The BACCF, we have just wrapped up my favourite season – granting season. This year, our Grant Making Committee reviewed a record number of applications. The quality of the submissions was remarkable and a testament to the dedication of the organizations serving our community. While it made for some difficult decisions, it was inspiring to see so many projects seeking to make a difference close to home.
I had the privilege of attending several Committee meetings and seeing firsthand the thoughtful discussions that shaped the funding decisions. Ultimately, $102,000 from our Community and Field of Interest Funds was invested back into the community, supporting a wide range of initiatives. My sincere thanks to the Grant Making Committee, chaired by Director Hannah Bahmanpour, for their dedication and commitment.
I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club of Bramalea, whose willingness to support several grant applications allowed even more projects to receive funding. It was a wonderful example of community partnership in action.
Much like the end of the school year is marked by graduation celebrations, the Foundation celebrates grant season with The Pearl Luncheon. This annual event brings our community together to recognize grant recipients and hear firsthand about the important work being carried out by local organizations.
As is tradition, the Foundation spotlights an organization making a meaningful impact. This year, guests heard from Second Harvest and learned about how this national charity works with local partners to address food insecurity and reduce food waste.
The Foundation was also pleased to recognize two exceptional community leaders: Carmen Baker of SNAPSO and Dr. Sherri Cox of the National Wildlife Centre. Both were honoured for their longstanding dedication to improving the lives of others—including our furry friends.

And for my fellow autumn enthusiasts, I would like to highlight two upcoming fall events.
First, the BACCF is proud to once again partner with Allan and Anne Thompson for the Legacy Golf Classic on September 2. This annual tournament supports local community initiatives, with the Caledon Agricultural Society selected as this year’s grant recipient.
Then, as the leaves begin to change colour, the Foundation will host its annual Opal Luncheon, where we celebrate individuals whose dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on our community. This year, we are proud to recognize not one, but two deserving recipients for the Living Legacy Award—Deb and Bob Peacock. We look forward to celebrating their contributions this October
More information about these events will be shared in the coming months, so I encourage you to follow us on our social channels for the latest updates and announcements.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish you and your families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer.
Warm regards,
Chris Markou
